Beirut March 2004. Eligo International Chairman Anthony Bailey has been honoured by the Lebanese Government in recognition of his contribution to the furthering of European-Lebanese inter-faith relations.
At a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Beirut His Excellency General Emile Lahoud, President of the Republic of Lebanon, decorated Mr Bailey with the insignia of Knight Commander of the National Order of the Cedar. This high award was made in recognition of Mr Bailey’s contribution to British-Lebanese bilateral relations and for his charitable endeavour among the Christian and Muslim communities in the Republic.
Chairman Anthony Bailey said ‘I am humbled by the high award bestowed on me by President Lahoud in the name of the Lebanese Government. My company has been active across the Arab world since the company was launched in 1997 and so to be recognised for our professional and charitable efforts is especially welcome. This work is of the utmost importance and especially today when there is a considerable public perception that such dialogue and understanding has all but broken down”.
In a letter dated 4 April 2007 from Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty The Queen granted Mr Bailey Unrestricted Permission to officially wear the Order in the United Kingdom. To view the permission click here.
