Biography of Anthony Bailey
Born in January 1970, Anthony Bailey is an Irish citizen.
Anthony has studied across Europe. From 1991 he graduated from the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies in Contemporary Eastern and Central European Studies. Anthony also studied in Bulgaria at the St Cyril and St Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo and Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. He later continued his studies at Corvinus University of Budapest in Hungary (formerly Budapest University of Economics).
He was also elected a full member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) in 2017 having beene elected to Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) in Britain in 1997 and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) in 1996.
He is a Life Fellow of The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers & Commerce (RSA) and a Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine.
In 2013 Anthony was granted the Freedom of the City of Glasgow (Scotland) and received the Gratitude of the City of Tirana (Albania). Anthony was granted the Freedom of the City of London in 2004, was elected a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Loriners in January 2005 and the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers in 2014.
He was a freelance journalist for a number of national and international newspapers and magazines from 1988-1998.
Since 1988 Anthony has advised both state authorities and private enterprises in over sixty-six countries of the world in the field of communications, crisis management and diplomacy.
In 2010 Anthony was appointed Special Envoy of His Excellency Filip Vujanović, President of Montenegro, for the Middle East and North Africa and Ambassador-at-Large with responsibility for forging greater political, economic and cultural ties between Montenegro and the Arab world.
In 2010 he was appointed to the committee of the European Atlantic Group.
In 2000 he was appointed the Deputy Secretary-General of the International Gold Mercury.
Among Anthony’s previous appointments were: Between 2011-2015 appointed to the British Board of Co-operation Ireland, a member of the High Council for Foreign Direct Investment (HCFDI) – a body of the Invest in Portugal government agency which works to encourage direct investment into Portugal (appointed in January 2006); Chief Policy Adviser of the Board of Directors of the international think tank, the Foreign Policy Centre (2006-2010); and service as a Principal Press Secretary for the Peruvian Government at the GATT-WTO Summit in Morocco (appointed in 1994).
