Rome, November 2015. Anthony Bailey Consulting successfully coordinated the Official Visit of the Governor General of Grenada, HE Dame Cécile La Grenade, along with her delegation, to Rome, Italy and the Vatican City State. The Chairman of Anthony Bailey Consulting, Anthony Bailey was part of the delegation in his capacity as Adviser to the Government of Grenada.
The delegation were received in Audience by His Holiness Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace, Vatican City, on 6 November 2015. Dame Cécile subsequently met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See HE Cardinal Pietro Parolin and HE Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.
Emphasis was placed on the cordial relations between Grenada and the Holy See, as well as the important role of faith in the country and the wider Caribbean region. An overview of the Caribbean region and the economic problems and environmental issues linked to climate changes were also discussed.
To mark the visit, Anthony Bailey hosted a private dinner in honour of HE The Governor General of Grenada at Il Circolo della Caccia, in Rome. The Dinner was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Grenada, Hon. Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen, MP, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Holy See, HE Mr Nigel Baker and Dr Xhoana Papakostandini.
Whilst in Rome, the delegation also held a meeting with senior officers of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George. The Grand Prior, His Eminence Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino and the Grand Chancellor, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies represented the Constantinian Order and Dr Nobile Fabrizio Ratto Vaquer, Vice-Delegate for the City of Rome was also among those present.
The delegation also visited the Sovereign Military Order of Malta where the Hon Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen was received at the Magistral Palace by the Grand Chancellor, HE Albrecht Boeselager. During the meeting topics including climate change, which has a significant impact on development across the island, and the role of Grenada in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), were discussed. Potential areas of cooperation were also raised.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Grand Chancellor both expressed their desire to promote and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Grenada and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in the medical and humanitarian fields and signed a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations.
