Jeddah, February 2008. HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Governor of Makkah Province and President of Painting & Patronage received in audience today His Royal Highness The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Guillaume.
During the audience Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and the Crown Prince of Luxembourg discussed their desire to further cultural and educational ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Their Royal Highnesses expressed the desire that their respective government authorities should consider the possibility of hosting a Painting & Patronage exchange programme between both countries. The Chairman of Painting & Patronage, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, presented an overview of the international activities of the cultural programme Painting & Patronage to the Luxembourgish Heir.
Prince Khalid Al-Faisal extended his good wishes to the Luxembourg Head of State, HRH Grand Duke Henri and later presented the Crown Prince with a lithograph of one of his own paintings of the Asir region of Saudi Arabia. The Hereditary Grand Duke presented Prince Khalid Al-Faisal with a antique print featuring one of the main squares of Luxembourg City.
The Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg, His Excellency Jeannot Krecké and a delegation from the Board of Economic Development also spoke of their desire to further Saudi Arabian-Luxembourg economic relations.
The audience which was held at the Royal Palace of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal in Jeddah and was attended by several officials of the Ministry of Economy and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce. The Hereditary Grand Duke was also accompanied by the HE Michel Lastschenko, Ambassador of HM The King of the Belgians to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who is diplomatically responsible for the Luxembourg official visit.
