London, October 2012. Mr Anthony Bailey, OBE, met with the Prime Minister, Rt Hon David Cameron, MP, on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Council of Christian and Jews (CCJ).
The Prime Minister hosted a Reception at 10 Downing Street in recognition of CCJ’s role as a leading faith organisation which has inspired other similar organisations working for interfaith and community understanding and tolerance. CCJ has been replicated in more than 30 countries worldwide.
After the reception, guests attended a celebratory dinner at St James’s Palace and enjoyed a performance by cellist, Julian Lloyd-Webber. HM Queen Elizabeth II is Patron of CCJ.
Among attending where His Grace The Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain.
The Constantinian Order, of which Mr Bailey is the Grand Magistral Delegate for Inter-Religious Relations, is a longstanding supporter of the work of CCJ. The British and Irish Delegation also donated on the occasion of the 70th anniversary celebrations £20,000 to the work of the Council for Christians and Jews which has been earmarked specifically for projects aimed at promoting great Catholic-Jewish understanding.
