Castries, April-May 2014. HE Mr Anthony Bailey, OBE, GCSS, paid a visit to Saint Lucia in the West Indies from 27 April 2014 to 1 May 2014 where he met with a number of state and religious dignitaries.
Mr Anthony Bailey was welcomed by the Archbishop of Castries His Grace The Most Reverend Robert Rivas to lunch at his official residence. Archbisop Rivas also accompanied Mr Bailey on a visit to several churches on the island, to a children’s home and home for the elderly. Prayers were also offered at the site of the National Shrine of St Lucia in Micoud.
Mr Bailey was received in audience by HE Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor General of St Lucia and representative of St Lucia’s Head of State, Queen Elizabeth II.
Anthony Bailey also attended a lunch with The Honourable Kenny Anthony, Prime Minister of St Lucia and later met with the Cabinet Secretary of the Government.
During his visit Mr Bailey visited the Parliament of St Lucia and the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Castries.
Mr Bailey visited Saint Lucia in his capacity as the Grand Magistral Delegate for Inter-Religious Relations and Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George. Constantinian Order has been actively engaged in Saint Lucia since 1981 through the support of late Nicola Vecchione, a knight of the British and Irish Delegation who forged ties between the Constantinian Order, the Church of the Most Sacred Heart in Ruislip Middlesex and the Marian Home for the Elderly in Castries. In July 2012 The St Lucian Head of Government attended the Delegation’s Faith in Sport Gala Dinner held at Stationers’ Hall where he received the Gold Benemerenti Medal of the Constantinian Order.
A series of charitable activities in St Lucia will be launched by the Constantinian Order later in the year.
